A Man and His Dog

Many of you have already heard about the police officer and a dog that were shot in the line of duty in my home town. I know that I mentioned they were both going to be fine, but that the dog Bosco might not be able to walk again. Miracle after miracle and Bosco is walking again.

At first it was thought he wasn't going to live, and then he did. Then it was thought he wasn't going to walk again, and he did that too. He was even supposed to be on the Oprah Show this week. But they cancelled on them at the last minute....I'm guessing because Sarah Palin actually agreed to be on the show. Great. I would have rather seen Bosco and his partner Officer Schiele.

Here is a picture of the two:

I think Bosco's going to retire. At least, I would, if I were him. It was great seeing so many people pull together in my home town. They were raising money for Bosco's surgeries. Bosco was donated to the force by a family who had lost a son in Iraq. It was his wish that his family give back to the community if anything were to happen to him. The K9 unit in Z-ville receives all of its funds through the community, meaning they have to have a ton of fund-raisers. So, it was wonderful to see so many people giving what they could to help out Bosco and Officer Schiele.

How about that for a feel good story?

I have the right-of-way

How happy am I that New York, NY didn't make it on this list? Ecstatic. Less of a chance for me to get hit by an MTA bus.

I leave you humming "Walkin' After Midnight."

Has that ever happened to you?

I just had one of those moments I'm sure at least one of you has had before. I just got done eating lunch and I was sitting gently. All of a sudden my mouth is on fire from a tiny speck of pepper that was in my meal. I hate that! There I am, minding my own business and BAM! I have a tiny bomb go off in my mouth. It hides in there until you least suspect it, only to wreak havoc later.

Has that ever happened to you?

I leave you humming "Hot in Here."

Unbelievable

Someone tell me the point of this....

Who are their favorite designers, Santa Claus ablaze??!!

I leave you humming "I Touch Myself." (Now, to grasp your humanity again, read the post below this one.)

New love of my life

I was privileged enough a few days ago to visit my very dear friend, who has just given birth to her first child. Holding that little one in my arms makes me think yet again, how wonderful the miracle of birth is. The fact that two people can combine their genes, wait nine months for her to cook, and then there she is, the perfect equation. And boy was she perfect. Beautiful and sleeping like a little angel.

Can you blame me for falling madly in love with her the moment she was put in my arms? If you saw pictures, you wouldn't. So, now there is a beautiful little girl who needs to be spoiled by her Aunt BB. She already has me wrapped around her little finger. (What little fingers they are, too.)

Shout out to the little one and her Mommy.

I leave you humming "Baby Mine." (From the movie Dumbo...makes me cry every time.)

Please don't take the A Express...

I saw The Taking of Pelham 123 this weekend. It was pretty darn thrilling. It was even creepier that the movie was taking place in New York, on a train that I've been on before. I would have freaked out if that had happened to me. This is not what I want to face on my way to work in the morning....

However, instead of making me fear the MTA more, I ended that movie going, "Wow, I have more faith in the MTA than I should." It taught me a lot about the safety procedures the MTA uses. For example, did you know that if a train encounters a red signal and does not stop, the brakes will automatically turn on? Stopping the train. You go MTA! (But, I have not forgotten all the minor annoyances you subject me to each day.) I will look past them today, and rejoice in your existence.

I leave you humming "Love Train."

I leave you humming "You Give Love a Bad Name."
